This collection consists of Svendsen's neighborhood nomination form as well as National Register site inventory forms with photographs for 5 individual neighborhood properties: 503 Melrose Ave. (A.W. Pratt House); 629 Melrose Ave. (Billingsley-Hills House); 223 Melrose Ct. (Jeremiah and Laura McLaughlin House); 407 Melrose Ave. (Robert W. and Luverne S. Wales House) ; and 5 Melrose Circle (Rudolph and Ruth Kuever House). This collection includes biographical information about Rudolph Kuever; photos of Kuever family members; and reminiscences of Gretchen Kuever Merritt (daughter of Ruth and Rudolph). Rudolph Kuever served the University of Iowa as a hospital pharmacist (1907-1914); College of Pharmacy faculty member (1912-1937); and Dean of Pharmacy (1937-1952). The collection includes an article written by Rudolph Kuever which describes various contributions of the University of Iowa College of Pharmacy to the World War I war effort, including the manufacture of aspirin in the College of Pharmacy manufacturing lab.

The Melrose Neighborhood Association was formed to research and document historic residences in the neighborhood and to advocate for their preservation. The west side Iowa City neighborhood is adjacent to the University of Iowa and residences have been pressured by university expansion. In 2004 historical researcher Marlys Svendsen prepared nomination papers to the National Register of Historic Places for the Melrose Historic District.
